• Angesichts zunehmender globaler Krisen und der Kritik am Wirtschaftswachstum wird dem Wohl der Menschen in der heutigen Zeit immer mehr Bedeutung zugeschrieben. Infolgedessen ist es ratsam, die derzeit wachstumsorientierte Politik stattdessen an Lebensqualität auszurichten. Hierfür bedarf es entsprechenden Indikatoren, die das aktuelle Wohlstandsverständnis um soziale und ökologische Dimensionen erweitert. Doch der Etablierung solcher Kennzahl stehen diverse Hürden im Weg. Diese sind zum einen in der Zusammensetzung und Methodik der Indikatoren begründet. Zum anderen stellen politische, statistische und kommunikative Herausforderungen eine Schwierigkeit dar. Aufgrund der Vorzüge des derzeitigen Wohlstandsmaßes, dem Bruttoinlandsprodukt, ist darüber hinaus keine Dringlichkeit für eine neue, alternative Kennzahl gegeben.
• In view of increasing global crises and criticism of economic growth, more and more importance is being attached to the well-being of people in today's world. Consequently, it is advisable to adapt a new policy oriented to quality of life instead of economic growth. This requires suitable indicators that expand the current understanding of prosperity and include social and ecological dimensions. However, there are various obstacles to the establishment of such measures. On the one hand, these are due to the composition and methodology of the indicators. On the other hand, political, statistical and communication challenges pose a difficulty. Moreover, given the advantages of the current measure of prosperity there is no urgency for a new, alternative indicator.
